We have now towed the boat about 600+ miles and to be honest; I’m lucky as we’ve got a nice big powerful 2.0l car which will pull the trailer happily at 70+ !!!

my girilfriend forgot it was there!!

once we got the hang of it most of the journey up and down to ullswater from glasgow and back was done at 60- 70 odd, no problem ,no swaying or reacting to cross winds. which my farther in law puts down to having 10inch wheels and a wide wheel base, he’s the towing expert . honestly I would be happy to tow the boat and trailer all day on a motorway if I had to, on an A class road you just have to watch out for holes even then it just seems to thump through rather than bounce the suspension units seem to work well. and I have the boat tied down with a big ratchet strap across the axle point and a smaller one at the bow which holds it very tight to the trailer. iv’e got a nissan primera and width wise the boat sits quite high on the combi making it possible to see most of whats behind you and is narrower than the side mirrors of the car, the combi bit is heavier than a normal launching trolly but way better built. and is obviously for your boat so no one will nick it by mistake from the normal ones
I’m sure you could ask dixonbates for a copy of the road base instructions to see how it goes together. I threw mine out
the trailer is adjustable for a number of sizes I had 2 goes to get it right I think it’s set to the middle or mimimum width and almost the medium length
the nose weight at that setting is just about right it’s not a strain to lift it up on to the hitch as I said in my forum post the trailer is heavier than a custom built
one which I think helps the suspension units work properly if they are too powerful for the weight then you bounce a lot. I had this with an old leaf spring setup it I borrowed once

considering the weight of the boat trailer and all the camping gear and bikes we put in the boat last time the car copes with braking no problem

I hope my rambling helps you

the only thing with the kit, is they include a couple of spanners which after I stopped laughing I threw in the bin and one of the wheel studs was buggered
and they were a bit reluctant to send me a new one( wheel stud) but did eventually ( they wanted me to un bolt the whole sus unit and send it back !!!!)
